Thankful!

It is that time of year where we sit back and evaluate life. Well I sit back and evaluate my life this time of year because I like to reinvent me in the winter. I also like to make sure that I am on point with the goals I have set for myself.

Besides the business and outer success stories I have a wonderful list of things to be thankful for.

My thanks are for:
Life
Intelligence
Strength
Truth
Family
Friendship
Love
Fun
Travel
Nature
Peace
Harmony
Quiet moments
and so much more.

What are you thankful for today?

It is a good feeling to see all you have and can give thanks for.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Place - Music

What is one of the best ways to release stress and unwind?

What can take you to another place?

Most times a song or a particular artist can help you escape all the drama of the world.

Currently I have a few artist that really lift me no matter what. This includes:
India Aire
Jill Scott
Kem
Luther Vandross
Michael Jackson
John Mayer
Norah Jones
John Legend

It is something about the lyrics that make me feel they understand and want me to smile. I don't know what your favorite artist or song is but take a moment out of your day to enjoy whatever that is. You deserve it!

We Salute You!

Just imagine being a young man/woman who is told that you will be going to war. No not a fight at the corner of your neighborhood but fighting in essence for your life.

Do you see it?
Do you feel the fear?
Can you comprehend the complexity of the situation.

Today is Veterans Day and many of the men/women that have served or are serving are not being acknowledged. Why do we not see the value in all they have sacrificed?

If you know someone that has served or is serving take a moment out of your day to share your appreciation for all they do. They give more than we can ever imagine.

For all my wonderful family and friends that have given all they can for us

I Salute You!

Release and Revive

So many people are overweight and unhealthy in the community. It has become a trend to just do what you can but be happy with the way you are.

You should be happy with the way you are but also remember to do all you can to take care of your health.

If your suffer from :constipation, leaky bowel syndrome, digestive distress, gas & bloating, skin disorders, irritable bowel syndrome, eating disorders, candida (yeast infections), allergies, muscle/joint pain, arthritis, hypertension, fibromyalgia, spastic colon, chronic breath odor, chronic fatigue, chronic body odor, headaches, toxic chemical exposures, acne, chronic skin problems, abdominal gas and bloating, lower back pain, sciatic pain, low resistance to colds and infections, low energy and vitality ... then you may need to cleanse your body's elimination system. (information from tbn-colon.com/about-ch.html

It might be time to consider some basic and healthy options for your body. For instance, colon hydrotherapy, fasting, raw food diet and other processes that will clean your intestine so that you can relieve your body of the additional waste it is holding onto.

Locate a office in your surrounding area and have a discussion with someone about your goals for your health by doing natural changes to see what you could potentially change. It could be the lifechanging task that will take you out of the negative statistics.

Wednesday Wisdom

Love now for the next moment is not promised.

We are seeing a lot of death across the world. Don't live in regret. Show and tell those you care about how much they mean to you now while you are able to share time with them.

Peace and Blessings.

Emergency Fund Saving

I am currently taking a class with Financial Peace University (Dave Ramsey) and it is interesting to hear someone that hit bottom share the tips that helped him get back on top. It is also amazing that through it all he was able to keep his family structure in order. Most time finances can break a relationship down.

As I am taking the class I see how I have been careless with money. I have always had the easy come easy go mentally to it. Ramsey wants to make sure that we pay ourselves first. We don’t imagine that is possible because bills have to be paid but if we took the time to put something on the side it could still develop the emergency fund that every household should have.

Do you have anything stored away for a rainy day?
Do you have money that you can access quickly when needed?

Ramsey encourages that you at least have $1000.00 saved away. That could deal with car issues, unexpected bill, etc. The ultimate goal is to have 6-8 months of living expenses saved. The secret is to save because an emergency is never planned but you can be prepared.

Meditate

I notice that most of my surrounding friends and family are on rush mode. We are all running to get things done because we feel the end is near.

Are we able to enjoy every experience when we do this?
Do we feel happy?

Most of us in our days forget to take care of ourselves or the important task that we really do need to tend to.

For instance:
  • Eating 3 meals a day
  • Drinking water
  • Exercising
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Paying Bills ontime
  • etc.
Maybe it is time to adapt meditation in the daily routine so that it becomes apart of you like breathing. It will help clear your mind so that you can really focus on your task, be good to yourself and cut down on stress.

It only takes a moment.

For those of you that do not know much about meditation here is a quick crash course
Sit in a comfortable position (in your office chair, the couch, car, etc
Take deep breathes (focus on counting in 1.2.3.4.5/out 1.2.3.4.5)
You may feel funny at first but if you really just focus on breathing you will soon be taken away to another place. That is meditation.

Try it!

Exhausted

This heat really does drain the energy.

Somethings I do to keep cool
Wear light free clothing
Drink plenty of water
Not hang out in the street

These are some key things to remember.

Do you have any suggestions? Please add to the comments.

Brighter Side

Even when things seem bad a silver lining can be found.

Things can always be worse...

Remember this when you are dealing with life.

This too shall pass.

Stay Bug Free

Ok so now that summer is here people are having the crab feast, cookouts, white affairs and more outside. It is also the time when you need to protect yourself from bugs.

I want to share one of my top picks for the summer especially if you are doing a lot of outdoor events.

Skin So Soft (Original) Oil. It has a very soft smell and keeps the bugs off of you. I have been using it for awhile and I have been missing all the bites that everyone else is getting.

If you want to learn more about it go to youravon.com/carlathorpe.

I hope this helps keeps the bites away from you.

Always

I do not really know what to say.

MJ's service touched my heart in such a unique way. The love he showed us all and the love we have in our hearts for him is so strong.

I just want to say "I love you"
I am nowhere near perfect but I hope that our time together has meant something. I hope you know that I strive to stay connected and loving to all those people that touch me.

When you go throughout your day remember love in all that you do.

Peace.

Love You MJ

Being an only child I had to find ways to entertain myself. TV didn’t really work for me since whenever I got in trouble my mother would remove the TV from my room. I had to find something that was lasting and fun for me. I always enjoyed music so it was natural for that to become my best friend. I would play the radio anytime I could or a good CD.

When I was heard Michael Jackson my heart would skip a beat. It is like he lived in the same world that I did. He always talked of being alone but hoped for the love of his life to come. I decided I would fill his void. I had posters, the “Barbie” doll, T-Shirts and more of my future husband Michael Jackson. When he did his specials I would record them and watch my favorite parts everyday. I imagined our wedding day, him being happy with me and the life I would have with someone that could make you dream of the greatest love ever.

Through the years my love never changed even though he did. His physical appearance boggled me but I knew it was done out of his pain. It is sad that he didn’t release the pain from childhood or ever know what it was like to be happy with the way he was. Just knowing how down on himself he was makes me want to cry. How can someone with so much magic not recognize the blessings?

With Michael’s death I hope to always embrace the person I am. No matter what happens to me physically or externally I pray to always know love. I think that if Michael would’ve found a way to embrace all he was then he would not be so sad.

I will forever have a special place in my heart for Michael. He was my first love.

Home Search

Everyone is saying that today's market is perfect for the first time home buyer.

I have decided to try my luck at finding a property that can work for me. I need space since I conduct three businesses, comfort, peace and a wonderful price so I can live and also enjoy my home.

I recently went on my first house viewing with my realtor. She is apart of www.MetroSalesTeam.com. They are wonderful.

So I learned about Short Sales and Forclosures. The Short Sale is the last option for me because most of the locations will be no assistance with closing cost and the property is sold as is. Now the forclosure if the contract is written correctly can still be a good look but it depends on the condition that people left the house in. I viewed on eviction and you could tell they were mad. They took the applicances, messed up the carpet and left trash everywhere. I want a home but not that bad.

I know I will be able to get a team together to help with my new project but somethings I refuse to deal with.

This is a wonderful adventure. It is making me feel more like a grown up.

I will continue to share on this journey. I know my home is calling my name.

I will be walking with the Breast Cancer Network of Strength, an organizationthat provides immediate emotional relief to anyone affected by breastcancer. The walk is May 10, 2009 at 9am. This is just one of the many ways I am donating my time to give back to the community.

Can you feel the heat? Try to stay cool.

If you are in the DMV I know you felt the great heat we had for the past couple of days.

It was no joke and kept me tired.

Here are some cool tips for the hot days:
Stay hydrated (keep your water near you. Try not to use plastic bottles, use the glass bottles instead.)
Wear cool clothing (Try not to wear too many layers. It only makes you hotter.)
Don't stand in the sun long (It is already hot and if you stand outside in the sun it will only makes things worse and also increase your risk of skin disesase.)

I know I will be doing all these things so I can continue to move and shake.

Until next time...

Ok so I am more than overjoyed with the way April is going. I have been meeting people that are like me busier than ever but determined to enjoy life.

My company is taking some wonderful steps to help business owners, brides and more to reach their goals.

I cannot complain at all because it doesn't have to be with way.

I will have a more detailed check in next week. I am still working on some developments.

So Good

April has been so good to me so far. I let go of the drama from March and welcome all the good that God has for me. I might loose friends, change career goals, reinvent myself more times than I can count but one thing is always true God always loves Carla.

I am not perfect and I never pretend to be. My real friends, true loves and people that really respect me understand. I am who I am.

Spring is here and I am blooming in more way than one.

Thank God.....

Come on Spring

I really want to know why it is so cold. I wore a Tuesday to try to help Spring push through the cold. It didn’t work.

I am ready to not have on layers of clothing, let my toes show and take long walks.

I am asking in my best baby voice “Spring! Can you please come out and play with me?”

I missed your name

Have you ever been out and met someone but you missed that name?

How do you find out what their name is?

I met someone about a week ago and I still do not know their first name. I need some cool ideas of how to get the name out of them.

What suggestions do you have?

It is healing

I don't know if everyone has had a opportunity to listen to India Aire's new CD but I have two favorites.

Yellow
The Cure

I listen to those songs everyday and I mean it changes so much. I feel the spirit in her music and it gives me the strength to deal with what I have surrounding me. It really is amazing.

If you haven't picked it up now is the time.

I am grateful for the blessings surrounding me.

Get It Out

Currently I am dealing with some communication issues. It is causing plenty of frustration but what to do about it. Many people are now suffering from "It's All About Me" syndrome so they don't hear a word that is said.

How do you handle such people?
How do you break the communication barrier without getting out of character?

I am open to all suggestions.

I try to get things out as much as I can. Sometimes I want to do face-to-face conversations when it is something very serious. No matter what I try to get it out.

Either things will change or people are gonna be mad at all my honesty.

I am making the change, What are you doing?

Stress is the silent killer. The more I listen to the radio, watch the news and read health blogs they all stress how woman are rapidly loosing their lives to heart disease.

Lately that thought has become so very real because I realize the stress that I put on my body. How I take everything so seriously but neglect to take care of my body?

With that I have now taking the Suze Orman challenge and decided to cut out somethings this month so that I can eliminate one of the causes of my stress, which is stress from thinking about finances. With the economy the way it is and everyone fearing of loosing everything the bug did hit me. I realize that most of my money that could go to credit card debt or other bills happens to be spent in a week full of lunch or dinners out. Even though it is day 3 I see a big difference in my bank account. (soon hoping to see a difference in my body)

Coming more in tune with your body is important. It is also good to reflect the things that you can change on your own without going to a doctor and asking them what do you think after you are laying in a hospital bed. We all have a chance and choice in our health.

What are you as a woman doing to cut back on stress and stay healthy?

Where were you for Inauguration

I was home letting the visitors enjoy the space on the mall. I couldn't help but to feel overwhelmed by the joy in every ones heart. We came together and made a difference that will direct our lives in a new direction. It made me believe even more that anything is possible in my life and as a community.

I am very proud of all the work I have done to help make this moment happy.

I love you
God Bless us all.

Wednesday Wisdom - Honesty

I am noticing that a lot of people are not honest about their feelings with things people say, events and other things that take place between family and friends.

If you love someone be strong enough to tell them the truth. Let what is in your heart come out and let the laws of the land deal with the rest. When you lie it hurts more than when you are honest with those around you.

If you have someone you need to share something with it is no time like today to release and move on.

I appreciate your honesty

Wednesday Wisdom - Being Still - The Outcome....

Ok so last year had so many ups and downs. I felt like I lost my direction and desire to really take charge of my life and organize things. Nothing was going as I hoped. I felt very alone and without hope.

A voice told me “be still.”

Now if me moving and working wasn’t getting me the things I wanted how in the world would be still help me push forward to the next level.

A voice told me “be still.”

Obviously it was worth a try to list and see what could take place. So I was still. For majority of December I took time to define myself, what my goals are, what I want to do, etc. I wasn’t stressed, I didn’t feel low, and things that I thought I lost were found.

Being still for me was a renewal of the things that got jumbled up in the things around me. Giving too much of myself had me drained.

So in the first official week of 2009 I have gotten back in the game of life and really am making strides towards what I really want.

Main things happening in 09 for me are:
Wedding coordinating – my company added this service October 2008
Completing my two books – (I know it is about time)
Purchasing my first home
Sponsoring workshops and events that promote women wellness
Enjoying every moment in life

What is happening with you?
