You read the title correctly. My family is doing a no buy for January. Not because we are silly but it is good to take a break from going wild after the holidays. We got the family and children gifts so now we need to regroup and prepare for a successful 2014.
No a no buy does not mean we won't be paying our bills or taking care of our necessaties like the car needing to be fixed but really budgeting and sticking to it. I came across a wonderful blogger that is instructing this challenge and it gives a great detail to how to be successful in a no buy.
The just is
Budget
Don't Eat Out
Use Cash
Be Realistic
You start off with your budget (bills and groceries, listing what you will purchase (birthday cards, stamps, etc.) and things you don't want to purchase (starbucks coffee).
I did it last year for February and it was amazing how much was saved and all the fun I had at home. I think this is a awesome way start the year and get your finances in order.
