Dinner Fun

For awhile it has been 2 of us but as the family grows it is important for me to find new meal ideas so that neither me or my husband are cooking everyday.  Cooking daily can just be too draining. So tonight I made a twist on something he likes to cook for dinner. He makes smothered chicken/pork w cream of mushroom soup. It always taste so great. Well with the crazy schedule he has and waiting for DJ to come I thought I would cook his dish for him.

So to YouTube I went.  Yes I go to YouTube before food Network, recipe.com or anything like that. So my twist to the recipe was rice.  I love rice but I don't make it often. With this one pot dish I couldn't resist adding rice to help make a complete meal that will last at least 2 days.  I have nothing against leftovers.  Here it is.  It looks and taste just like I wanted.  Yum!

Day one check. #changeitupseptember

September is Change It Up Month

I am on YouTube a lot.  I seem to enjoy the natural hair blogs, month favorites and videos that give me new insights on recipes to make for my family.  Then at times I watch videos on challenges or ideas to improve your life.

Knowing that my life is about to change forever soon I was thinking that I would make a stand for the things I want to incorporate in my life to make things even more fun.  For example, my son is coming so I want to create the list of things that we as parents want to demonstrate for him so that he is exposed to diversity in the world.  I kinda started the list but I like just coming up with projects to do. I guess that is my creativity.

I came across this YouTube video today https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ls0PY_EXKeA that talks about the Theme #changeitupseptember. I think this is so cool because sometimes we make a decision to create change and then we also have changes forced on us.

So as my life is evolving change is coming everyday in my adventures and this theme is going to rock.

If you want join me for the fun of #changeitupseptember

Single Child Adult

It is about that time for our bundle of joy to come our way. This is the most excited and scared I have been in my entire life.  So many unknowns that can easily drive me crazy. I have been pretty good at embracing most of the things I cannot explain or know ahead of time thus far.

Now! My husband hits me with a very interesting question or point of view.  He is very curious of how the spoil only child me will handle giving that to someone else.  I never thought about it.  I just feel like I will make sure he has everything he needs to be successful in this world.  I have already thought about his savings plan and making sure that he is comfortable.  The love part is easy because we are lovable parents. I think I can still have my desires while giving him some of his.

At this point we will have to wait and see but for once in my life I won't have the alone times I have had in the past. It will no longer be me alone in the home but us.  I look forward to my new playmate.  ha

7.18.13

A day in the life of trying to be, create and be happy in this skin. I have come to terms with a lot of things this year. I also have some major transformations taking place that I question if I am really ready for. I am going from a only child that follows the beat of my own drum to a now wife and soon mom of a newborn. I still am amazed when I wake up to look at the ring on my finger. Then this little person is stretching and growing inside of me. Maybe I didn't move fast enough with my other dreams or this is just where I need to be. With the new ventures I look to reinvent myself again and change the game plan for so many things. My family deserves my best so that means no half stepping. Once it's out see that I will do something it has t happen.

My focus is no longer completely on helping others since I have people that now really depend on me to be all I can be.

This is the life. Let's go!

31

I am at 31 weeks and 31 years of age.  It is a funny thing that I wanted to celebrate this time because of the double numbers.  So I geared myself up to get a lot done plus reflect on this time.  Well I went ahead and did more than reflect.  Actually I wore us out.  The baby and daddy have told me to sit down and I have had no choice.  Mommy is exhausted.  I had to lay, rest then nap and I am still exhausted.  Another part of me is preparing for the reality that the time will come for the baby to be here.  I rush in my life and brain to prepare for him understanding that sometimes you can't prepare for everything.  I am struggling with all of that.  I want to be super me like I use to be but I can't.  I want to do it all but I have to cave in and allow others to help even if it is on their own time.  We don't need to be stressed so I will attempt to keep my life laid back but accomplished.  That is the ultimate goal.  No stress on my DJ.

At 31 and 31 weeks I look in the mirror to see all the accomplishments, changes and goals I have in life.  Things will continue to happen one way or the other because I am Make It Happen Carla.  All things are possible because God continues to bless and show me the way to his destiny for my life.  I want it all, I want more but I am at peace with where I stand today.

Peace and Blessings.

She's Got It!

I really admire this woman that is able to just let the sweat roll off her brow and move forward with the goals she has in life.  It is something so graceful but peaceful about her spirit.  She is able to not let go and let God without any hesitation.  I wonder, How does she do it? I hope I can get skill under my belt soon.

Whatever the secret I hope she shares her wisdom with me because it is beautiful to be STRESS FREE.

Married Month 1: The Change

So after the wedding I just knew life would slow down and we would have time to just relax. The big day had passed so the meant quiet time was here. Not so much. We forgot to factor that no matter what we are both always busy with something. It is just how things work right. We opted to not do a honeymoon but will book a cruise once our bundle is here. That is the thought at least. From opening gifts, work, life, family we are still busy. Marriage didn't change that. Ha

One question that keeps being asked is, "how does it feel being married?" At first we both said it doesn't. We have been together so long that it is really just a continuation of what we had just w the blessing of The Lord and rings. Well I will be the one to recap. As we go though this new journey we are changing. It is officially us against the world and I allow my husband to lead. I have to remember the choices are not mine but ours. So when a question is asked of me I have to go back and check w my husband first. Not because he wants to keep tabs on but because we respect one another. The goes with finances too. It is our money and we have to make realistic decisions with our money so that we reach our goals together. I'm not going on shopping sprees and then being broke. We discuss a budget and then I can go forward w the things I need first then wants. Lastly just letting him lead. I always worried about my husband making decisions for us not because he couldn't but because he can take his time about stuff. Well he has been showing out where it matters and I just embrace whatever he decides and go with it. I will share my thoughts if I see a problem but other than that he has it.

One of the things we learned in counseling is we have a chance to make the marriage we want. It doesn't have to make sense to the world at all. The important thing is that God is the core and we just live in his word together. Nothing is prefect but we make the most of the time and love we have.

With reflection we both understand our decision to be more than just boyfriend and girlfriend is the best decision we have made in a long time. I adore my husband and he gives his all for me. What more could it be? Well we will continue to go forth and see what else life has in store. Just think its just been one month of marriage. Come on next month!

Peace and Blessings.
